Applying any kind of vinyl wraps on your vehicle is one of the easiest things to do but there are some aspects have to be taken into account for seamless application. One of the most common mistakes when installing vinyl on your vehicle is not taking enough time to prep the surface of your car or bike. If the surface of the vehicle is not thoroughly clean the adhesive will not stick and you will ultimately have a wrap that will not last very long.
Below are a few steps to ensure that will help you in the process of applying your vinyl wrap. This will take your wrapping game to the next level and also help prevent damage.
Wash the Surface
The most crucial step in prepping for the perfect vehicle wrap is washing your vehicle to remove any dust, wax, oil, and debris. Oil and dust will affect the adhesive bond and not allow the decal to stick properly. Washing every inch of the exposed surface of the vehicle is the most effective way to begin the prepping process.
Cracks, dents & difficult Spots
Cracks, dents & peel off are trouble spots need special attention when prepping the vehicle. First scrub the area careful and end the washing ritual by wiping the surface with a soft microfibre cloth.
Even after a hand wash, the surface is not completely cleaned. The last step will be going over the vehicle surfaces with a clean lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Using a spray bottle, fill this with equal parts IPA and water. Spray the mixture directly on the surface and wipe down immediately with a lint-free cloth. Wiping the vehicle down with this mixture will completely clean the surface of any leftover and wax.
After washing the vehicle the second step in to wipe down with solvent and last step wipe with 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA). To round up the entire exposed surface of the vehicle should be wiped down with a soft cloth to ensure a 100% clean surface. After this, you can begin the process of applying the vinyl wrap.
